I began several years ago making small to rather large tiled framed mirrors, which soon became narrative large panels of ceramic wall hangings. The process, which is multi-step, affords me the opportunity to cut the original clay slab into large mosaic like pieces . Similar to a child’s super big puzzle. The panels are mounted, grouted, as well as the addition of a ceramic border. The size ranges from 12” square to 3’ x 5’ and up to 3" deep. Two of these multi paneled hangings are in the Levine Children’s Hospital, Charlotte, North Carolina. One of which was a splendid collaboration with local fifth graders.
